Day 64(November18) Chloe has been off of the CPAP for 36 hours with no apnea
episodes. This is a very good because when they are satisfied with
her progress, they can start feeding her by the bottle. |

Day 65(November19) This was a great day for Chloe. The first thing we
noticed was that her CPAP apparatus was gone. The second set of good
news is that all of her vitals are very good. The third is that
they started feeding her (one meal only) by bottle. Dad got to hold Chloe for about an hour and he was very happy that day. Chloe was not very alert as she normally was, but this was a tired time for her. We do not know when she is coming home, but we do know that this day brought her closer. This day has been a major milestone for little Chloe (3 lbs 9 oz) that should be remembered.

| Day 66(November20), Mom spent the whole day with Chloe.
This was a very good day for both mom and Chloe. For Mom, she got to
bottle feed Chloe -- that was very special for both. For Chloe, no
CPAP. Chloe today, had a major spit-up episode, but that is a baby thing. Chloe weighs 3 lbs 9.6 oz. She now has plenty of baby fat compared to her birth.

Day 67 (November 21), Chloe weighed 3 lbs 11.75 oz and looks great.
She is now eating 31 ml of food (slightly more than 1 oz.). Chloe is
having problems with using the bottle. To use the bottle Chloe must
develop the skills of sucking, swallowing and breathing. Once these
skills have been developed then they must be coordinated. This is a
complex thing for term babies let alone for a little preemie.

Day 68 (November 22, 2001 - Thanksgiving Day), Chloe now
weighs 3 lbs 13.7 oz. She was alert and very active.
She is also eating 32 ml of food every three hours. She also used the bottle for one feeding (15 ml). Today, was Chloe's first bath by dad. She did very well through this experience. She was calm cool and wiggly. Dad did a good job, but he really wants mom to think that he is totally incompetent. Mom unfortunately doesn't accept this behavior from dad. Dad also got to put on a diaper on Chloe. Chloe did very well, dad doesn't mind when there is no dirty diaper to change. God has done so much for us this past year, things that at this time last year; we would of never have thought. We have a lot to thank the Lord for this year and this week. Thank you dear LORD, and thanks to you all for all your prayers and support! . |

Day 69 (November 23, 2001),
PANIC!!!!!!!!! Today, Chloe was put in to an open Crib, one week earlier than expected. That is the good news. Today, one of her doctors told us to PANIC!!!, because Chloe is developing faster than they are reacting to. What that means, is that it is possible for Chloe to be released next week. That means that the home environment must be set up to handle Chloe. PANIC!!!. What Chloe needs to conquer now is her feeding, which she is currently handling 15 ml one serving a day. She would have to feed by the bottle each and every meal (until she gets way older).

Day 70 (November 24, 2001) WOW!!! (Still Panicking) Chloe is getting closer to coming home. They have moved her out of the isolette and now have her in an open crib. Just to give you a feeling of how fast she is developing, the doctor on duty during Thanksgiving told us that she would be likely in her crib (a plexi-glass tub) this week or next week. The very next day she was in the crib. The doctor that day told us that ,that is a clue of how well Chloe is doing. She is also using the bottle in one feeding a day (ok she is drinking half the formula by bottle and the other half by that green plastic tube thing down her throat -- but I am a dad and I am suppose to be optimistic). She is waking up for most of her feedings and doing great. Pictures will be coming soon. It looks like I must video tape her, she is changing that fast.
